Nobody remembers first seeing Shadow. People only remember realising he was already there. Unlike the other Pocket Guardians, Shadow rarely chooses the centre of the room. He prefers the edge of the desk, the corner of the backpack and the seat beside you rather than opposite you.
Shadow notices everything. He does not speak very often and never asks to be noticed. But when the other Guardians disappear into adventures, Shadow is usually the one quietly making sure everybody gets home.
Some collectors believe Shadow was the very first Pocket Guardian. Others believe he only appears when somebody genuinely needs one. Nobody knows which story is true, and Shadow seems perfectly happy to keep it that way.
